Marking up your site
  • How should a site be marked up?
  • Where should the code go?
  • Who can do the mark-up?

Answers to all these questions below.
Marking up your site: a simple operation
First step: within your XiTi interface, find the HTML code corresponding to your site enabling you to call the marker and count all visits.
Second step: edit the HTML code of the page(s) of your site, and insert the marker code. In paid-for versions, you can simply configure the marker to attach itself directly to the tree structure of your site. Detailed instructions and mark-up examples in your interface help you carry out these operations quickly and easily. And our client support team can always help you through the procedure.
For the free version, you can carry out a test immediately. Check that your installation works by viewing the page in a browser: the XiTi logo should appear on the page.
For paid-for versions: we will help you through the mark-up process, and can carry out the test live at your request.
Third step: check your statistics! from the following day, you can start to consult your XiTi reports on-line.
Positioning the marker
If you are not interested in measuring only pages that are loaded fully, but wish to count everyone who visits your site, XiTi recommends placing the logo as high up on the page as possible.
However, we remind you that in order to have your audience figures certified by Diffusion Contrôle's Internet and multimedia department, it is essential that the markers be placed at the bottom of the page. If your site contains frames including a menu frame, it is preferable to place the XiTi marker only on the main page and not in the menu, because the menu will not be reloaded automatically at each page change.
Simplicity of use
The XiTi interface has been designed to be useable by non-IT-specialists. The XiTi tool is not intended only for webmasters, but for anyone involved in a site's activity, whether they be responsible for content, marketing or IT. The user-friendliness of the interface makes it possible to access the analyses you want with a minimum of clicks. The calendar and the pull-down menus provide very simple access to the measurements. No prior training is required to use XiTi.
To make things even simpler, XiTi provides a variety of help features and explanations. Each page contains a box showing usage advice, explanations about the calculation methods and examples relating to the corresponding analysis.
Finally, we offer several levels of help tailored to your needs to support you in marking up your site:
